Children from school enjoy partaking in Visual Arts Week
Visual Arts Week took place in Griffith Barracks in March of this year. This was our fifth Visual Arts Week and as before, we were delighted to welcome generous hearted and talented parents into each class in the school to work with the children.
Senior Infants brought in baby-grows, leaves, keys etc. to do a printing workshop, Junior Infants saw some famous art pieces and then did a collage project. First Class explored performance art in response to visual art, Second Class were involved with costume design and creative play, while Third Class used merino wool to do felting. Fourth and Fifth Classes worked with two architects from the parent body on design and light projects and Sixth Class received a fashion design overview.
All children picked a favourite piece of their work for inclusion in a whole school art exhibition; the exhibits included clay, papier-mâché, paint works, fabric, fibre and drawing.
