Solidarity from 6th class

Solidarity from 6th class

As part of our work towards the Global Goals, 6th class identified two social issues that we would like to help with: homelessness and litter. We focused first of all on homelessness. We brainstormed ways that we might be able to help with this issue, other than by fundraising. The class agreed that awareness and solidarity were important. We decided to create small, solid ornaments that we would decorate. The idea is that these would be left out in a place where homeless children were likely to see them. We felt that they might make a child smile, and that they were small enough to keep in your pocket or not take up too much space in a small hotel room. They are a message of solidarity to children without a home. We gave them to the Fr Peter McVerry Trust in Templebar.

More to come later in the year towards addressing homelessness and litter!
