Our Admissions Policy reflects the School Admissions Act 2018. Every school in the country has now adapted their enrolment policy to ensure it is easier for parents to apply to all primary schools funded by the state. To fully comply with the Act, we have put the following changes in places:
The main changes are:
- The enrolment window for Junior Infants and older classes is now from 1st October to 31st October for children wishing to start in the school the following September. All the local Educate Together schools will use this window to make it easier and more transparent across the system. You will also be able to apply to the school after 31st October but will be placed behind those who have applied within the enrolment window.
- There will be a lottery for places in the older classes also.
- Applications can now be taken right up to the start of the school year and the admissions year runs from October every year in a 12 month process.
- Schools will now be able to share information with each other to ensure that people are not accepting places in multiple schools. This can have implications for staffing levels in schools if students do not turn up on the first day in September. It also speeds up the process for parents.
- If you had made an application prior to 2017 under the Enrolment Policy that was in place then, you will be added to the lottery.
Please read the policy for further information. Admission Policy
